La industria de cruceros

No hay duda de que la industria de cruceros se encuentra en auge. Más de ocho millones de pasajeros pasaron por nuestro país en 2017.

España es el mayor destino europeo de cruceros después de Italia, y nuestros puertos están en la cima de la Ranking mundial. España cuenta con un buen posicionamiento entre los mercados emisores de EE.UU., Reino Unido, Alemania, los países nórdicos, Italia, Francia y Rusia. Actualmente la flota mundial cuenta con más de 300 cruceros y una previsión de construir 90 buques de cruceros más hasta 2026.

El número de cruceristas que han llegado al Puerto de Santander se situa en 14.663 pasajeros y 11 buques a lo largo de 2017 pero sus posibilidades de crecimiento son exponenciales.

Es evidente la importancia de la infraestructura portuaria para el desarrollo de la industria y la necesidad de ofrecer servicios turísticos locales adaptados a las tendencias del mercado de cruceros. Las líneas de cruceros siguen apostando por los destinos europeos y españoles señalando que la disparidad de destinos existentes suponen una oportunidad para incrementar las visitas de pasajeros a Santander.

 

Objetivos del Santander Cruise Forum

El SANTANDER CRUISE FORUM 2018 tratará de presentar las oportunidades que tiene Santander de incrementar el número de pasajeros de cruceros que lo visitan además de explicar las claves para convertirse en un destino de cruceros de éxito y el impacto que este turismo ofrece en los destinos.

Con la participación de las Compañías de Cruceros, consignatarios y expertos del sector, el evento se centrará en cómo se han preparado el puerto y la industria auxiliar, las inversiones, el destino en sí mismo y los servicios turísticos ofrecidos para garantizar la satisfacción de los cruceristas,  proporcionando además  conocimiento sobre esta industria que estimula las economías de destinos de cruceros y desvelará las claves para el crecimiento de la industria.

La jornada analizará de nuevo las estrategias y retos que puedan llevar al Puerto de Santander a aumentar las escalas.

 

A quién está dirigido

Se trata de un evento dirigido a profesionales del sector portuario, industria auxiliar, agencias de viajes, instituciones relacionadas con la promoción turística, así como servicios hoteleros, guías, restaurantes, museos, taxis, comercios y, en general, todos aquellos servicios que puedan beneficiarse de la llegada de pasajeros de cruceros a Santander.

    Yolanda Pelayo es responsable del departamento de Excursiones de Pullmantur Cruceros a nivel global desde el año 2015.

    Se encarga principalmente de la selección, implantación, desarrollo y mejora del portfolio de excursiones, así como de la supervisión y control de su operativa en todos los barcos de la flota.

    En su día a día, mantiene una estrecha relación con los turoperadores en los diferentes destinos para asegurar que todos los servicios se llevan a cabo de acuerdo a los estándares y políticas de la compañía.

    Su máxima es mejorar constantemente la experiencia del pasajero en todos los destinos en los que opera la naviera.

    Diplomada en Turismo y apasionada por su profesión, el arte y los viajes, su carrera profesional ha estado siempre ligada a esta industria.

    Así, Pelayo ejerció durante 20 años como guía turística oficial en diferentes países europeos y turoperadora en Mónaco, lo que le permitió conocer en profundidad los enclaves más conocidos del Viejo Continente.

    Igualmente, trabajó como Shore Excursions Manager a bordo de diferentes navieras, experiencia que le brindó la posibilidad de descubrir en primera mano y en detalle destinos e itinerarios en Europa y Latinoamérica.

    Mario Sennacheribbo was born in Palma de Mallorca. His Italian surname comes from the region of Piemonte where his grandfather was from.

    Mario has been involved in the Tourism industry since he was a kid due to his father being working in one of the most important travel agencies in the Balearic Islands.

    While he was studying his university degree in Chemistry, he travelled around Spain assisting the cruise ships for Viajes Formentor, his father’s company. When he finished his degree, he decided to work full time in Viajes Formentor. During this time, he did a Master course on Tourism Management (ESADE) and then he decided to expand the business and founded Baleares Consignatarios and Baleares Consignatarios Tours. Recently both companies have joint the National Express Group. Today he is the MD for the group of companies under the name BC Agency.

    Emiliano González is the President of MSC Cruises in Spain and was born in Madrid. He studied "Director of Tourism Enterprises" at the Official School of Tourism in Madrid. His career has always been linked to the tourism sector beginning  in 1967 in the historic CHAT Travel Agency , where he remained until 1980. Subsequently, he held various management positions at agencies  such as  Icab Travel, Atlanta Travel, Vincit,  Mapfre, over a period of 22 years. Emiliano joined MSC Cruises in 2002 as its Commercial Director. In 2004, he became Managing Director of the company in Spain.

    2014-current – Cruise División Manager – Perez y Cia Group: Responsible for the coordination of all activities involved in the Cruise Division. Leading and motivating the Operations Team to ensure levels of service meet or exceed our customer expectations and that all departments have a focus on continuous improvement.

    2006-2014 – Galicia regional Manager – Perez y Cia: Responsible for working with international ship owners/ charterers.

    Providing the best possible services to incoming/ outgoing vessels. Solve problems, oversee loading and discharging operations, arrange and supervise crew exchanges. Managing special projects, oversee repairs and special operations on behalf of owners/ charterers. Process and finalize all required formal procedures with government officials.

    2002-2006 – Termavi- Director de Operaciones: Responsible for all matters relating to the efficient and safe utilization of terminal facilities, equipment and operations manpower to achieve optimum container throughput as efficiently as possible. Ensure compliance with all IMO and regulatory requirements and liaise with Port and Local Authorities in this respect as required. Liaise with the senior management of Shipping Lines and their Agents to understand their requirements and work closely with them to serve their needs. Continually review benchmark, plan and implement operational strategies to ensure that the Terminal develops and grows profitably. Responsible for achieving all budget requirements and recommending investments.

    1998-2002 – Manager – Gallega Stevedores: Responsible for coordinating handling vessel, port operations and stevedoring team. Daily operational analysis of post-vessel cargo operations for the purpose of analysis and implementation of new procedures after addressing obstacles from previous vessels. Responsible for external communication with vessel operators for the purpose of vessel scheduling, labor assignments, vessel berthing and priority discharging of inbound containers. Efficiently communicating with owners, charterers, receivers, ship chandlers and all other concerned for ensuring smooth vessel operation at port. Single point of contact for owners, charterers, suppliers, receivers, port authority and other interested parties prior vessel’s arrival in port, her stay at the port and till her departure.

    1995/1996 – Risk manager – Santander Bank: Responsible for gathering information about the company’s outgoings, legal responsibilities and business activities. Also in charge of evaluating any potential future risks to the company’s operations.

    Virginia Lopez Valiente is the owner and CEO of Cruises News Media Group, a company dedicated to communication, marketing and promotion of the Cruise industry.

    Cruises News Media Group edits the magazine Cruises News and organises annually the International Cruise Summit, the Cruise Excellence Awards, Cruise Forums and Cruise Trainings.

    Virginia has spent most of her two-decade career leading departments of commercial, marketing and operations in international companies of various sectors such as transport, hospitality and consultancy.

    Before founding Cruises News Media Group, she held various managerial posts in companies such as DHL, Panalpina Global Transport, Air Express International, Thomas International and IPS Consultants and was Director of Operations for Spain and Portugal at Hospitality Marketing Concepts, an American multinational of marketing and loyalty programs for luxury hotels and chains.

    She has a degree in Business Administration, International Trade and Marketing and completed her executive program (PGD) in Marketing Management and Strategic Management at the British School of Management Sciences in London.

    Virginia is also the publisher and Chief editor of Cruises News, the magazine.
